Providing a Framework for Population Education, and the Required Qualifications and Competencies of Population Education Specialists in Iran

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study is to present a framework for population education, and the required qualifications and competencies of population education specialists in Iran.
Methodology: This research employed a qualitative grounded theory approach and thematic analysis. The research population included experts in curriculum planning and social sciences, and content related to population education. Purposive sampling was used for sampling. Data related to experts' opinions were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed through open and axial coding. Data related to scientific resources were collected from documents in valid scientific databases and analyzed through thematic analysis.
Findings: The findings indicated that religious and spiritual, cultural, political and social, economic, environmental, technological and digital, health and hygiene, educational, and social risk awareness is essential for the population. Accordingly, population education specialists should possess basic and specialized knowledge in the fields of demography, religious and spiritual studies, culture, politics, society, economics, environment, psychology and education, health, education, management, technology, and social risks, and address population education through education, counseling, production and distribution of educational resources, collaboration with organizations, social interventions, strengthening social participation, research and data analysis, designing and implementing effective policies, and paying attention to vulnerable groups.
